Multiple Sclerosis is an inflammatory disease affecting the brain and spinal cord. It’s a chronic inflammatory demyelinating disease that affects the central nervous system (CNS).There are many proposed therapies for the disease butno known cure for multiple sclerosis is available till date.The literature states the deficiency of Vitamin D plays and vital role in the development of MS in some patients.
Researchers from some of the Universities of Australia and New Zealand are focusing their research on the efficiency of Vitamin D to prevent Multiple Sclerosis.
The researchers are working to set a Clinical Trial which will focus on extent of vitamin D supplements being used to prevent a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis following a person’s presentation with the first symptoms that may lead to a diagnosis of MS.
The trial will also focus on the dosage levels and dose toxicity, safety and information that would probably be useful in the prevention of MS.
